The Bible tells us twice in Luke 2 that Mary, Jesus’s mother “treasured all these things in her heart” after she experienced a couple of significant things with her son.
Mary, Honey, I get that. I really do.
Anytime we are all around a table together, I feel like my senses are in overdrive. Despite the complaining, the kids do about my hearing (it’s in the Normal range! I had it checked!), I hear everything … every worry, every grin, and every stretch. They do not let me hear all their words, though. Especially if it’s a joke they heard on TikTok.
Once the “kids” move out, family dynamics really do shift. And I can’t explain it, but it’s a wonderful part of life we don’t hear too much about. Parenting still happens in a big way, but there’s a friendship that begins, too, that will 100% make you want to burst with equal parts pride and admiration.
Every phase of parenting is one to be stored up and treasured, but this one beats teething hands down.
There are a lot of Mamas out there getting their seniors ready for graduation and I remember well that it feels like you’re about to lose something huge. Trust me when I tell you that huge thing that you feel like is slipping through your fingers is about to land in a new place in your life and it’s going to put any Homecoming Dance to shame. Stay hydrated, Mama. It’s about to get big.
